FAQ · Dr Maja Simić

Which wrinkles can Botox treat?

Botox works on expression lines - wrinkles caused by repeated movement of the facial muscles. Botulinum toxin type A temporarily relaxes these muscles, so the skin becomes smoother and the face looks more rested, without losing its natural expression.

The most commonly treated areas are:

  • frown lines between the eyebrows
  • horizontal forehead lines
  • crow's feet around the eyes
  • bunny lines on the nose
  • drooping mouth corners and neck lines

Botox is also used preventively, by people who want to slow the deepening of wrinkles that are only beginning to show.

Wrinkles caused by volume loss rather than muscle movement are not treated with Botox in the same way. For these, other treatments, such as hyaluronic acid fillers, can be considered at the consultation.
