Facelift recovery generally unfolds in two stages: a period when the visible signs of surgery fade, and a longer stretch during which the final, mature results take shape.
Swelling and bruising are most noticeable early on, often peaking around day three or four, before gradually improving. Stitches are usually removed between day seven and day fourteen. Allowing two to four weeks before returning to work and social activities is often appropriate; visible signs of surgery can last longer.
Resuming strenuous activity requires your surgeon’s approval; exercise and heavy lifting are usually avoided for at least two weeks. Temporary numbness and tightness may take longer to resolve than visible bruising.
The face continues to settle over the following months. Mild residual swelling, numbness or tightness can persist for up to a year in some patients, so early recovery is different from the final maturation of the result.
Every patient heals at a different pace, depending on skin type, age and overall health. During your consultation with Dr Maja Simić in Belgrade, you can discuss the expected facelift recovery process and guidance tailored to your procedure.
